Small B44 Update

by LowClassCC on Mar.17, 2009, under Associated

well with all the other work going on i haven’t had a chance to do much more to the b44. but i finally did get around to mounting the 5.5 brushless novak motor, installed a 18 tooth pinion gear, mounted the novak gtb brushless speed controller, and shortened and re-soldered the wires that go from the speed controller to the motor.

Fresh War Paint!

by LowClassCC on Mar.17, 2009, under Associated, New Toys

Well my new bodies are now painted. there is two b4 bodies, one b44 body and under tray, and a custom works wide truck body for the rc-10l. the only body that is not in these pics is the s2 body. this is because at the time i had not had a chance to paint it up yet. it is currently getting painted and will soon be doing the others. well here are the new body pics. i will post more shots after they get trimmed and mounted.

Atomic Carbon S2 Built!

by LowClassCC on Mar.13, 2009, under Associated, Atomic Carbon

Well i finally got her put together. she will still need to be aligned and stuff, but she is fully together. the only thing preventing me from being able to race her now is a paint job and race legal batteries.

since i cant race her yet i can still take her to the track and show her off a bit. i’m sure there will be some interest in the s2. but the answer to the question of if i will sell/trade her off will always be limited to the word “no”.  sorry guys this s2 is mine. i went through a lot to get a hold of this one.

anyway here’s the pics. the electronics may get changed around before this fine work of art ever sees the dirt though.

Vintage Tires

by LowClassCC on Mar.13, 2009, under Associated, Atomic Carbon, New Toys

well i got my vintage tires in the mail today. 2 of the for sets are the team losi staggered four row tires.  these are from back in the day when i raced as a kid. before foams were needed and before there were different tire compounds. these are the tires that it seemed everyone ran locally.

now after scooping out the local track and seeing that it was real dirt and not blue groove red clay i wanted a tire that would bite on that surface. so in my opinion these hard compound tires will do the trick. and as a bonus i wont have to worry about them wearing out lol.

now here’s the problem. the b4 rims are a good deal wider than the classic wheels. the b4 wheels are also 2.2″ and the tires are 2.15″. the tire will be a snug fit. but the b4 rims will need to be narrowed to use the tires.

in the first pic from left to right we have:

  1. pink b4 rim that has had some trimmed off to narrow it.
  2. orange vintage losi wheel to compare to
  3. pink b4 rim that is unmodified

in the second pic we have from left to right

  1. vintage team losi staggered 4 row tire mounted on narrowed b4 wheel
  2. stock b4 tire and rim

well i don’t know how this will do on the track but if nothing else i will be different than everyone else out there.

RC-10L Reborn!

by LowClassCC on Mar.12, 2009, under Associated

well it didn’t take long for me to decide to rebuild the 10l. here is a list of problems it had going on.

  • wiring was a nasty mess
  • car was filthy
  • zero oil in shock
  • screws falling out
  • setup for low center of gravity
  • diff was gritty

i completely disassembled the car and scrubbed it down completely. after all the parts were clean i done any trimming that was needed to get rid of the molding breaks. then the parts got a pink die job.  the car was reassembled. shock rebuilt. diff cleaned and lubed. all alloy parts polished lightly. motor cleaned and oiled. all electronics cleaned and reinstalled. wiring cleanly set up. changed out the 24 tooth pinion gear for a 17 tooth. built a 5 cell battery in a 3×2 saddle pack for the car. maxed out the ride height since the car will be driven on the street for added ground clearance. (remember this car is not going to be raced) the  5 cell battery and 17 tooth pinion gear should slow the car down a decent amount which was my goal. the car needs to be slow enough to be able to be controlled with ease since its a trainer for my 4 year old.

well here’s the pics so enjoy.
