RC500 Restoration Has Started

by LowClassCC on Sep.21, 2009, under Associated

so far the upper and lower chassis plates have been cleaned along with the fuel tank. then i started on the front end parts. the entire front end has been rebuilt at this point except for one shock. all hinge pins were cleaned and polished to a mirror shine. every suspension part was cleaned and deburred. the front axle carriers were on the wrong side of the car when i got it which was causing some binding of the steering. that has been corrected and the whole front end suspension and steering are flawless. the inside of the front wheels were also rubbing the steering knuckles and the upper and lower suspension arms. adding an extra small spacer took car of this issue. most of the washers and some of the  nuts have been replaced as needed. well that’s it for today. here are the pics!

Team Associated RC500 2wd

by LowClassCC on Sep.20, 2009, under Associated, New Toys

Well i finally landed myself this beautiful vintage team associated rc500 nitro 1/8 scale ride. i’m not a nitro guy as you may know but i am also not one to pass up a piece of team associated history. i currently only have plans to clean this up and make it into a shelfer but am still a bit undecided as of right now.

other notable specs is the engine that this fine ride is sporting is a HB  .21 Grand Prix. it was made in w-germany. from what i have found is that this engine reliably turned 26,000 rpm. sadly though parts are no longer available for this motor and the company that made it has since been bought out.

Team Associated Pin w/ Mean 12th Scale Car Pin #3828

by LowClassCC on Sep.20, 2009, under Associated, New Toys

now  this is a piece of history that you don’t see everyday. i highly doubt that there are very many of these out there. i was lucky enough to find this one still new in package. i tried looking up the part number and it came up as something for an rc10gt if i remember correctly. so even the part number had been retired and used again.

Team Associated Stealth Transmission Drill Guide #6590

by LowClassCC on Sep.20, 2009, under Associated, New Toys

well this isn’t something many people find new in package anymore. this guide also came with a stealth transmission when you bought the conversion. it was used to get the holes drilled perfect on the old a stamp associated chassis that  did not come with holes for the stealth transmission. i was abe to land two of these in case i ever needed to take one out and use it i would still have one nip.
