Durango B4 Chassis vs. Factory Team Carbon B4 Chassis Weight

by LowClassCC on Mar.31, 2010, under Associated, Durango

a lot of people have said that the durango chassis is not worth using due to weight. well with lipo batteries and everybody  adding weight to their cars how is the few extra grams going to be a problem? i would much rather run a heavy buggy than a light weight one for the simple fact that a heavy buggy will feel more planted due to that extra weight.

anyway here are the different weights. carbon b4 chassis 119 grams, alloy durango chassis 169 grams. so there you have it. 50 grams. people are putting alot more than 50 grams of lead weight in their buggies so i just see it as saving myself a step.

Skinny Front Truck Wheels

by LowClassCC on Mar.31, 2010, under Associated, New Toys

ok the rc10t i picked up for my wife is an early version with the skinny front wheels. now i could just go with the wide fronts that are communally used today but i wanted to keep the vintage skinny front look. now look at this. i also want to be able to use a modern compound tire so the truck will be worth driving on the track. now seeing that the stock skinny front wheels are a 3 piece wheel that is suppose to work like a bead lock rim i come across another problem. the modern tires are so soft they would never stay on the rim without gluing them. now i do not want to glue than. the old skinny wheels are too hard to come by to do that.  so now i am needing skinny front wheels and tires of a modern style and compound.

me and my bright   ideas huh? am i really asking for too much? never!

i found the jconcepts site to have something that may just work for me. they make a rc10t4 to 1/8 scale buggy conversion. in this conversion you get skinny front wheels and tires. i took the chance and bought rims and tires in the hopes that the offsets would work out for me. well i have got them in and every measurement is exact. the with, diameter, backspacing, is all the same. what is different is that they are a modern looking wheel that is one piece and lets not forget how much lighter they are than the 3 piece stockers. as for the tires. other than the fact that the jconcepts skinny front tires are softer and require foam inserts unlike the original rc10t tires they appear nearly so identical they could have came from the same mold except for the lettering on the sidewalls.

well here are the pics so you can see for yourself.

Workshop Storage

by LowClassCC on Mar.30, 2010, under New Toys, Track / Shop

when working with rc cars you never have enough space to organize everything. well that is something i want to try to take care of before i start having storage space issues or one of those where did i put that part problems. so i have added more storage bins with pull out drawers. i have labeled some of the drawers so far and have a lot still to label and fill for that matter, but storage space i will not lack. i plan to fit as many of these units as i can in this area. so as you can see i’m not finished yet.

by LowClassCC on Mar.29, 2010, under Associated

yep i did it. i painted the rc10 body up in the vintage cow colors with just a touch of modern style flames going on. i think this will most likely be the new low class paint scheme that we will be using. think this looks hood just wait to see what i have in store for one of our other vehicles.
