Body Mold Take 1

by LowClassCC on Jun.11, 2009, under Custom Made

well i am planning to build a vacuum forming table later on. but with just a vacuum forming table you wont be able to vacuum form anything unless you have a mold. so i have been researching different ways to make a mold. here are some pics of a mold i made. the hydraulic cement was the method i chose. the one thing i learned was how fast that stuff dries. anyway there were a few air pockets i need to go back and patch up but other than that it came out great i’m my opinion. i am only planning to pull one or two bodies off of this mold for practice. but with how solid it is i doubt i could wear out this mold no matter how many bodies i pulled on it.

anyway worst case is that i come to find out vacuum forming is something i cant do and i an stuck with the look my wife will give me for painting this sprint car body mold up and sticking it i the flower bed in the front yard for everyone to see.  hey it a win win situation!

Another Workshop Update With Posters

by LowClassCC on Jun.11, 2009, under Custom Made, Track / Shop

Ok now here’s where the shop starts to take a turn from looks good to a die hard rc racers shop. i had various rc posters that i wanted to use but lack of wall space = no room to hang them. another problem was the counter was flat white and would collect dirt very easy. and seeing that i race off road things do tend to get kind of dirty. so i figured out how to fix 2 problems with a few cheapo wal-mart poster frames. these frames no longer use glass in them but they do use a thin polycarbonate. so i picked up a few frames and tossed the frame and cardboard backing. i only used the thin poly. i laid the posters down and then used double sided foam tape to attach the poly sheet to the bench over the posters. now the posters can be seen, and wont get damaged. the counters can now be wiped down with a damp cloth to be cleaned up. a also used one of the pro-match banners under one section.

i also picked up some more paint and got a little more finished. i am really starting to love how this room is coming out. i could not be more excited.

Workshop Update With Paint

by LowClassCC on Jun.11, 2009, under Custom Made, Track / Shop

well even though i still don’t have the wood to finish the shelves and benches i can still get some stuff done. in these pics you can see that i have started to paint what i do have done. the paint helps brighten up the room and give the benches and shelves a finished look. but sadly i was not able to finish since i ran out of paint. but it wont be long before i get more done.
